When we hear the word "globalization," many of us think about the expansion of businesses and production across the world. As this book shows, globalization is also changing the shape of education. This book highlights some different forms of globalization - in particular changes that appear as school reforms, changes in public policy on education and the rise of new forms of civil society. The chapters take up questions about how the local, familiar experience of schooling has been mapped onto the globalizing processes of markets, technology and capital accumulation.
